A facelift or rhytidectomy counteracts the signs of aging by removing excess skin, tightening the skin, and repositioning deeper structures to their proper position. Sagging cheeks, deep creases or "smile lines", loose skin on the face and neck, and even a double chin can all be corrected with a variety of facelift techniques. The result is a more youthful appearance of the face and neck and a fresh appearance to the skin.
During your consultation, Dr. Liszka will discuss your desires and provide an individualized treatment plan that is right for you. Despite the technique used, most facelifts leave barely noticeable scars that are hidden in natural fold lines or at the hairline. These scars become almost invisible over time. This procedure requires a 7 to 10 day healing time with no exercise for two weeks.
Other procedures frequently done in conjunction with a facelift include eyelid surgery, browlift, laser resurfacing, rhinoplasty, and cheek or chin implants. Some patients also desire only contouring of the neck area. Those patients may be candidates for a necklift, which is essentially the lower half of a facelift, but is less invasive.

Upper Lid Blepharoplasty
Upper lid blepharoplasty removes excess skin and fatty tissue from the upper eyelid to restore your natural lid crease and youthful upper eyelid appearance. This not only gives you a refreshed, alert look, it also allows you to apply your eye make-up more easily.
Lower Lid Blepharoplasty
Lower lid blepharoplasty allows you to remove the puffiness of the lower eyelids and fine lines by removing or repositioning the fatty tissue. Occasionally, extra skin is removed for more prominent lower lid wrinkles and to fully contour the lower eyelid.
Blepharoplasty can be done alone, but is frequently done in conjunction with other facial rejuvenative operations like a facelift. This procedure requires a 7 day healing time with no exercise for a minimum of two weeks.
A brow lift or forehead lift is used to rejuvenate the forehead and eyebrow areas for those people who feel they look angry, sad, or tired. This procedure creates a more youthful rested appearance of the forehead and brow region by gently lifting the brows and reducing the lines on the forehead.
A brow lift corrects the drooping brows by tightening the skin of the forehead and removing the muscles that cause frown lines between the brows and pull the brows down. There are two ways to do a browlift. The traditional method is to make an incision in the scalp just past the hairline. The newer of the two techniques includes 4 to 5 small incisions and use of a fiberoptic scope with a camera attached. Both methods produce excellent results and Dr. Liszka will explain why one method may be better for you.
Brow lifts require about a 7-day healing time and no exercise for a minimum of two weeks.
This procedure can be done alone, but is frequently done with other facial procedures like a facelift or eyelid surgery.
A rhinoplasty can reshape the nose and allow better facial harmony by reducing a nasal hump, augment a depression at the bridge of the nose, refine or lift the tip, make a broad nose more narrow, straighten a crooked nose, or narrow nostril width if the base of nostrils are too wide. Dr. Liszka will correct these issues to whatever degree you desire to allow you to achieve a natural looking result and maintain your appearance.
Rhinoplasty also can be performed with septal surgery for breathing difficulties or with other facial cosmetic procedures.
Rhinoplasty requires a 7-10 day recovery and no exercise for a minimum of two weeks.
Cheek and chin implants are used to augment areas of the facial skeleton. Cheek implants can give you more pronounced "higher cheekbones" or replace volume that has been lost due to aging or weight loss. There are a variety of implant styles and sizes and Dr. Liszka will help you choose the implant tailored to your specific needs.
Chin implants are used to bring the chin into better harmony with the overall facial structure and appearance. Chin implants are also used frequently with rhinoplasty to improve a person's profile and give the face better proportion.
Cheek and chin implants can be performed as a single procedure, but are commonly placed at the time of other facial cosmetic operations.
Surgery for Correction of Prominent Ears
Otoplasty, or ear surgery can set prominent ears back closer to the head, reduce the size of large ears, or recontour ears with an asymmetric shape. Prominent ears occur when the natural folds of the ear do not form properly or when there is a deep concha, or "bowl" in the lower part of the ear.
Otoplasty is typically performed on children between ages 5 and 8, and it is often covered by insurance. In some cases, adults will have otoplasty for cosmetic purposes. The surgery takes about two hours, although complicated procedures may take longer.
This is an outpatient procedure and is done under general anesthesia. In one week, most patients may return to work or school and can exercise within two weeks. There are a few different techniques and Dr. Liszka can discuss which one is right for you.
What is Fat Transfer?
Fat injection or grafting has broad applications in cosmetic surgery. Fat injected into areas requiring volume-enhancement produces safe, long-lasting, and natural-appearing results as volume is replaced to tissues where fat is diminished. Fat grafting usually involves harvesting fat from one part of the body, washing/purifying it, and the carefully re-injecting it with specially designed needles into the areas requiring augmentation. The procedure may need to be repeated several times to achieve the desired result.
Swelling, which is commonly seen after fat injection, usually resolves within 2-3 weeks. The degree of swelling is most dependent on the area injected.
Am I a good candidate for fat grafting?
Patients who benefit from fat grafting are people who desire augmentation or filling of volume-deficient areas. The most commonly grafted areas include the hands, face (including the lips), and depressions in the skin contour such as those that have developed following liposuction and scarring.
Generally, patients who are considered for fat injection are in good health. If you have a history of abnormal bleeding or swelling following a procedure you should notify your surgeon. A smoking history should be disclosed to your surgeon. Each patient's anatomy and proportions vary, and the decision to utilize fat injection techniques depends on the goals of the patient
Fat Injection Standard Procedure Techniques
Fat is harvested using a special suction cannula using sterile technique. Once enough fat is obtained from the donor area, it is then purified. This often requires the use of a centrifuge which spins the fat and removes impurities. The fat is then placed into the areas requiring augmentation. The injection needle is usually passed in and out of the areas to be augmented multiple times. This creates a 'grid' of threads of fat graft. The areas that were injected may then be massaged by the surgeon to create a satisfactory contour. A dressing may then be placed.
Fat Injection Benefits/ Advantages
Fat injection or grafting is a technique that is growing in popularity. Fat is one of most well-tolerated fillers available to aesthetic surgeons, and thus has broad applications. It is natural-appearing, lasts a long time, and is safe. It is an effective filler used for changing body contour, revising scars, filling depressions created by liposuction, and rejuvenating the hands and face. Perhaps most importantly, it spares the patient the inherent risks associated with fillers derived from animals or cadavers.
